Key Features

  • With a focus away from competition and placed on participation and health the Wellbeing Centre aimed to incorporate this mantra throughout all aspects of the design
  • The functional relationships created for the active zones of the facility were directly connected to the support zones of the health care centre, programs of healthy lifestyle information and the cafeteria offering healthy choices for food and beverage options
  • A friendly environment encourages students and staff to utilize this facility for a variety of services, programmes and activities that are able to be offered in the specialized and flexible plan that has been created
  • Premium indoor activity facilities are provided including indoor courts, a pool, gymnasium and dance studio, these spaces are also available for bookings by the external community, this is well utilized given the quality of the spaces and provides an additional income stream for the school.

Within the prestigious setting of Geelong Grammer a contemporary response to the educational needs and the Positive Education philosophy of the school was designed.

Capturing the view and connection to the oval and outdoor physical activity areas the building also focused on sustainability principles to deliver a holistic response to the school’s vision. Night purging, natural ventilation, rainwater recycling are incorporated, along with the innovative use of recycled air from the heated pool being used to heat the pool hall.
